Like its predecessor series, LOGO! 9 is also suitable for the simple implementation of everyday automation tasks and standalone applications. The proven strengths of LOGO! are retained, whilst numerous new Functions expand the scope of application.

What new features does LOGO! 9 offer compared to LOGO! 8?

The LOGO! 9 is significantly more powerful. It doubles the number of function blocks to 800, offers an internal colour touchscreen for a wide range of Display and control options, expanded I/O capacities (up to 64 DI, 60 DQ, 16 AI and 16 AQ) and internal security functions such as Secure Boot, encrypted communication and User Management (UMAC) with 4 roles.

Is LOGO! 9 backwards compatible with my existing LOGO! 8 modules?

The LOGO! 9 introduces a new generation of digital and analogue I/O extensions. Consequently, the I/O modules from the LOGO! 8.4 cannot, unfortunately, be reused. However, the existing Communication modules can still be used with the LOGO! 9. Existing programmes can be migrated bidirectionally using LOGO! Soft Comfort V9.

Do I need programming knowledge for the LOGO! 9?

No. The LOGO! 9 is designed for use without in-depth programming knowledge. LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 enables simple graphical configuration via drag-and-drop. Siemens also provides ready-made application examples for many Standard applications.

What security functions do the LOGO! 9 modules offer?

The LOGO! 9 features Secure Boot, encrypted Communication and User Management Access Control (UMAC) with four roles: Administrator, Engineer, Operator and User. Firmware updates can be carried out securely. A factory reset with IP retention simplifies recommissioning.

Which communication protocols are supported by the LOGO! 9?

The LOGO! 9 supports Modbus TCP/IP and MQTT natively, without the need for additional hardware. An internal web server enables browser-based monitoring and visualisation. The LOGO! 9 can be networked with SIMATIC controllers, HMI panels and SIMATIC S7-1200 systems via Ethernet. In addition, connection to Modbus RTU and KNX bus networks is possible via a suitable LOGO! Communication module.

Will all LOGO! 9 expansion modules be available at launch?

Not all expansion modules will be available at launch. The introduction of additional digital and analog expansion modules, providing the full range of features, is planned for early January 2027.

Is LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 supplied on a USB stick?

A direct switch to USB storage media is not planned at the market launch. Therefore, the Software will continue to be delivered on DVD when Version 9 is launched.

Are expansion modules with temperature inputs (Pt100 sensors / PT1000) available?

At present, the expansion modules for Pt100 and PT1000 temperature sensors are not yet available. These are scheduled for January 2027.

Is the LOGO! 9 Cyber Resilience Act-compliant?

Yes, LOGO! 9 meets the requirements of the new EU Cyber Resilience Act. Official Certification of Compliance is expected to be available from September 2027.

Can the LOGO! 9 also run my old LOGO! projects?

Yes, the programmes are bidirectionally compatible. This means that LOGO! 9 can also run existing projects from older LOGO! generations. Only internal Expansion modules may need to be replaced with compatible models.

What control tasks is the LOGO! 9 suitable for?

LOGO! 9 is designed for simple everyday automation tasks and small automation projects. If you are planning to automate a production plant or require Functions such as motion control, Safety Integrated or PROFINET IO, you should choose controllers from the SIMATIC S7-1200 G2 or SIMATIC ET 200SP series.

How can I visualise applications with the LOGO! 9?

With the LOGO! 9, applications can be displayed directly via web visualisations. The LOGO! Web Editor, which is internal to LOGO! Soft Comfort V9, is available for this purpose. With the editor, you can conveniently create and simulate visualisation pages within the same project as the control logic, and then transfer them to the LOGO! 9. The visualisation can then be displayed via a web browser on PCs, tablets or smartphones. No additional hardware or separate tools are required for this.

Does the LOGO! 9 support MQTT?

Yes, LOGO! 9 supports MQTT. This allows process and status data to be easily transferred to other systems such as dashboards, control systems or Cloud applications. MQTT is already Internal; none of the hardware is required, and configuration is easily carried out via LOGO! Soft Comfort V9.

Where can I find application examples and sample programmes to help me implement my application?

You will find some sample programmes for typical applications on the DVD accompanying the LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 software. Siemens also provides further application examples and tutorials online on its website.
